Blog (English only)

There will NOT be personal advise on health as Ayurveda cannot be done by phone, by mail or even internet. The importance of seeing the patient and studying the pathology is the most important thing. Otherwise any so called advise is just symptomatic and not really Ayurveda which treats dosha as the cause of pathology (CS, Su Ch 1.57)

The Psychology of Transformation in Yoga

The Psychology of Transformation in Yoga This is a book I wrote some years ago that has never been published in English. The main idea of this book is that the six Dharshana – that are called the six main philosophy’s of ancient India – are actually practical methods of transformation. This book focuses on the Samkhya Dharshana and a Vedantic (...)

I’m not doing Ayurveda anymore

I’m not doing Ayurveda anymore This is what a patient sent me by email the other day. For me this is a total misunderstanding of what Ayurveda is and represents as a vision of health care. Ayur means life, so if I say “I’m not doing Ayurveda anymore” it really means, “I am dead” or “I want to die”. Another line I have heard is “I’m doing a little Ayurveda” which means, “I am only partially (...)

Polyarthritis

I had an interesting case last week. The thing that was so interesting about it was that it was a pathology started and maintained by Kapha. There were no signs of Vata involvement, which in my practice is rare. Read the whole article by clicking on the link above (its free, no pop ups). (...)

Ayurvedic Psychology

The use of essential oils in Ayurveda

The use of essential oils is very common today. Unfortunately, there is a new tendency to use essential oils internally and externally as medicines. I am not sure why or where this bad habit began, but it is a modern development based on a “quick fix” mentality. Certainly there is an economic aspect to it because essential oils have a very long shelf life. According to Ayurveda it is certain (...)

Tendonitis

Ayurvedic medicine recognizes that all disease is the result of doshic imbalance. Therefore, all diseases are classified first by dosha that is implicated in the disorder (Roga) and then by the dosha that has caused the disorder (dosha + ja). In Ayurveda disorders of the tendons are considered to be related to Rakta Dhatu which is managed by Pitta Dosha. Normally any problem with the tendons (...)

Castor oil

Castor oil is the only oil that removes ama and congested mala or kapha when used with heat. It will reduce tumors and any excess tissues. It reduces vata strongly.
