The purpose of this course is to offer an in depth training on Ayurvedic nutrition. The book Perfect Balance was written in an effort to bring Ayurvedic nutrition to the broad public. However, it lacks the technical terms of Ayurveda and the information needed to become a clinical practitioner. The purpose of this course is to expand the information in the book and add the missing information needed to become a clinical Ayurvedic nutritional practitioner. Basic training in Ayurveda is useful but not necessary to do the course.
It is suggested to buy and read Perfect Balance before doing the course as the course does not repeat the information in the book, but rather adds to it. During the editing process about 150 pages of information were eliminated. Additionally, Atreya accumulated several hundred pages of notes in the years he spent researching for the book. The course includes much of this missing material.
Detailed information on how to practice and use food as a healing therapy as per Ayurveda is included in the course. This course has been developed to train practitioners according to Western clinical standards. Hence, the orientation of this course is to train professionals to use and become proficient in traditional nutritional medicine.
The course consists of over 280 pages (A4) total and is currently available.
There are five written exams and one written case study required by the student. On completion a diploma of 200 hours in Ayurvedic Clinical Studies will be awarded as Ayurvedic Nutrition Therapist
The cost of the course is 285 Euros plus 30 Euros for diploma. 315 Euros total. All billing is done in Euro. This price is for all countries OUTSIDE of the European Community. Total price for the EC is 405 Euros.

More Information
What you can ultimately do with the course depends on your previous level of study or profession. For those people who are already health care professionals the course allows them to begin to practice Ayurvedic nutrition right away. If you are not a health care practitioner already then you will have enough information on Ayurvedic nutrition, but not enough information necessarily to become a practitioner which is a separate skill. This normally needs some study with a teacher. A correspondence course should not be confused with learning directly from a teacher. The more experience you have as a practitioner the more you will get out the course and the more it will help your patient.
The following information is mostly for the North America and some other countries of the world. There is no law against giving dietary advice, especially if you are a trained health care professional. The course will give you advice on how to do this, that is its purpose. As far as we know no government accepts a correspondence course for accreditation in health care.
