This a letter I wrote today to a very old friend with whom I am very close concerning her choice on how to follow up her treatment of breast cancer. She had surgery and six weeks of radiation therapy. The doctors would like her to now follow up with chemotherapy. She lives in the USA.

Dear Friends, As some of you may know I have suffered from a degenerative disorder in the spine since 1972. I was diagnosis with a genetic problem in the vertebrae that inhibited correct growth. This caused the vertebrae to grow in an unequal manner and manifests as a deformed spine. I wore a corrective metal brace from the age of 16 to 18 years old which helped.
