Ayurvedic description:

  • Rasa (taste): sweet, bitter
  • Virya (action): cooling
  • Vipaka (post-digestive effect): sweet
  • Doshas (constitutions): Balancing for vata and pitta, increase kapha.

Commentary:
Yastimadhu is a sweet, nourishing herb that is excellent for supporting healthy lungs, mucus membranes and the urinary system. Its unctuous quality moistens vata and liquefies kapha promoting healthy expectoration and clear breathing. A natural demulcent, licorice soothes the stomach lining, pacifies excess pitta.  Licorice is a tonic for the reproductive systems for both men and women. licorice also calms the mind and promotes contentment and harmony.

Common Usage:
Used as a rejuvenator for the respiratory and urinary systems.

Possible Contraindications:
High Kapha, heart disease, hypertension, mal-absorption, osteoporosis, edema

Suggested Use:
1 capsule, once or twice daily, or as directed by your health practitioner.

Yastimadhu is also available in powder form
