"......There are many translations and commentaries of Sushruta Samhita in Indian languages and in English but none deals in detail about the identity of plants except the "Glossary of Vegetable Drugs in Brihattrayi", where Prof. Chunekar was the co-author. It was published in 1972 by his Guru, late Thakur Balwant Singh, the most renowned field botanist of Ayurveda, whose contribution in this field is unprecedented. Much work has been published since then in the form of research papers and books, but a comprehensive book in English dealing with plants of antiquity by an authority supported by original references was a great need. ......."
